Following through an old railway bridge on centurian way, next to some Tank traps from the 2nd world war, lies a once loved and now sad little lodge house

i will first show you an extract from the glorious grade 2 listing document for the lodge, then the recent "rightmove" pictures and finally the current state of the place.
Of note is the floor plan , the close up of the flint work over the entire original walls showing that the infills were very expensive and time consuming . always applied to high status places.

Lodge to Salthill House (q.v. Funtington CP). Probably 1804 for John Newland as Salthill House; added to and altered 1977; further addition 1988-89. Knapped flint with flint galleting and yellow brick dressings. Welsh slate roof. One storey. Octagonal on plan, the front rear and left and right sides longer than the angles; 1977 rear extension in same style and 1988 extension to right side of the earlier extension not of special interest. Brick quoins at angles and to 4-centred arched openings. Entrance front has central board door of cusped panels flanked by windows; 2 windows to left and right sides, one to the angles, all windows having replacement C20 case- ment windows and overlights with Y-shaped glazing bars. Window in rear, left, angled side was formerly a door. Rear masked by extension. Central brick stack with 2 flues. Interior: former partitioning removed; the central chimney has 2 fireplaces. John Newland is, first mentioned as owner of Salthill House in 1804 (Land Tax Assess- ments of New Fishbourne). There is a second, formerly matching, lodge on Salthill Road (q.v.
